Sign posts are embedded into a concrete footing with a minimum depth of bury of twenty-four inches. For standard curbs, the post is offset eighteen inches from the curb face. For rolled curbs, the post is offset twenty-four inches from the curb face. Clearances from finished grade to the bottom of the sign are specified as seven feet for pedestrian areas and five feet for all other areas. Signs are mounted facing the direction of vehicular travel or may be mounted on existing posts or buildings where the centerline is no more than twenty-four inches from the edge of the roadway.
