A fourteen-gauge top deflection clip secures an HDS5 stud to the underside of a concrete slab while allowing vertical movement. The clip fastens to the concrete using two quarter-inch diameter Hilti HUS-EZ screw anchors at two and a quarter inches on center for FTC3 clips, or two three-eighths-inch diameter anchors at three and a half inches on center for FTC5 clips. Two deflection screws attach FTC3 clips to three-and-five-eighths-inch studs, while three deflection screws attach FTC5 clips to six-inch studs. A one-inch minimum to one-and-a-quarter-inch maximum gap is maintained at the top of the stud to accommodate structural deflection.
