One-and-one-quarter-inch nominal pipe size steel pipe forms the top and bottom rails and posts of the guardrail, with handrail intersections radiused for continuity. The handrail maintains a one-and-one-half-inch unobstructed clearance at transitions. A flat plate is welded to the top of a bent closure plate positioned between the stringers. The guardrail stands at a three-foot-six-inch height above the stair framing, with a three-foot handrail height.
