A vertical metal stud hangs from an overhead joist or beam using a hanger wire or deck attachment, with one-half inch metal electrical tubing substituted when spans are less than five feet. The metal stud connects to the main runner of the suspended ceiling grid, secured with screws and braced by seismic wires aligned with runners at twelve feet on center and four feet maximum from walls at forty-five degrees maximum from the horizontal plane. Twelve gauge hanger wires are spaced at four feet on center to support the main and cross runners. Three full wraps secure the seismic bracing connections.
