Cold-formed steel framing splices utilize a twenty-four inch minimum reinforcing section nested within or against the spliced member. The steel track splice consists of a top or bottom track spliced with a twenty-four inch minimum piece of stud, secured with six number 6 gauge screws on each flange on each side of the splice. The steel stud splice uses a twenty-four inch minimum piece of track nested over the steel studs, fastened with six number 6 gauge screws on each flange on each side of the splice. Both splice configurations require a minimum twelve inch embedment or extension past the joint on each side.
