Metal stud framing features intermittent blocking spaced at eight feet on center maximum and at the ends of the wall, using the same gauge as the studs. A metal strap runs horizontally between the blocking and is screwed to each stud, with strap splices occurring at blocking. Where gypsum board occurs on one side only, a strap is provided on the side without gypsum board; where gypsum board occurs on both sides, straps are provided on both sides of the stud. Section and plan views detail the web bending and attachment to studs with two screws, as well as strap and blocking placement.
