A concrete slab-on-grade depression features a slope transition ratio of six to one. A continuous number five reinforcing bar is positioned with one and one-half inches of clearance from the top surface. The bottom reinforcement is placed with three inches of clearance and slopes through the transition zone. The depressed slab depth is dimensioned at a maximum depth of "t" with a transition length of two times "t" or twelve inches minimum.
