This assembly features a horizontal soffit constructed of five-eighths inch gypsum board on metal studs, which transitions into a vertical partition wall. The vertical wall framing is secured to the structure above, with sealant applied at the junction between the top track and the structure. Where columns occur, the face of the wall is aligned with the column face. At locations where television poles penetrate the soffit, the penetration is caulked and painted to match the surrounding finish. The bottom of the soffit elevation is referenced to the reflected ceiling plan.
