This one-hour rated acoustical partition assembly consists of two parallel rows of metal studs separated by a minimum one-inch clear space. The cavity between and within the stud framing contains acoustical insulation. One side of the partition receives two layers of gypsum board, while the opposite side receives one layer of gypsum board. Lateral stud bracing is provided as required without rigid cross-bracing between the independent stud rows. The assembly complies with UL Design U493 and achieves an STC rating between 60 and 64.
