A hollow structural section measuring four inches by four inches connects to a wide-flange beam sized per plan with stiffener plates added as required and welded using quarter-inch fillet welds. The base of the hollow structural section bears on an embed plate secured with two anchor bolts and full penetration welds. The embed plate is cast into a concrete element with specified edge and center-to-center spacings.
