Weatherproofing and installation procedure for a steel flange knife plate at a timber sill. Step one applies a self-adhered weather-resistive barrier liner leaving the bottom loose for primary weather-resistive barrier insertion. Step two applies a sill liner over the rough opening sill and removes the release paper from the top six inches. Step three applies a self-adhered sill corner to the sill and jamb of the rough opening over the sill liner. Step four installs an L-angle set in liquid-applied flashing. Step five installs the variable-shaped flange knife plate. Step six applies a liquid-applied flashing sill pan. Step seven continues the liquid-applied flashing over the flanges and liner at the bottom, sides, top, and onto the knife attachment. Step eight applies self-adhered weather-resistive barrier jamb liner. Notes require rod and sealant where siding is penetrated, and injection of sealant into lag bolt fastener holes prior to fastening.
