A wall detail incorporates a double J control joint profile (#XJ-15 by Cemco) with splices sealed watertight except where terminating above drainage screeds or flashings. The stucco lath is broken and discontinued at the control joint in accordance with ASTM C1063 and is wire-tied to the control joint on both sides. A separator sheet of Tyvek Commercial Wrap D, a Perm-A-Barrier self-adhered flashing, and a fluid-applied weather-resistive barrier are layered behind the lath over exterior sheathing and stud framing. The control joint maintains a maximum width of one-half inch, with minimum clearances established above and below.
