Cold formed steel joists bear on tracks with closure tracks at exterior and interior conditions. At the exterior end condition requiring a minimum 1 1/2 inch bearing, a piece of stud of the same gauge as the joist is secured with four #12 by 3/4 inch screws to the joist. At the interior condition requiring a minimum 3 1/2 inch bearing, a piece of joist of the same gauge and 8 inches long is secured with four #12 by 3/4 inch screws.
