Cold-formed steel header framing configurations accommodate wall openings up to eighteen feet wide with a ten-foot maximum wall height above the header. For openings of four feet six inches or less, the assembly utilizes a single sixteen-gauge stud matching the wall stud size beneath a sixteen-gauge runner track, secured with number eight sheet metal screws at sixteen inches on center. Cripple studs spaced at sixteen inches on center bear on the runner track using number eight sheet metal screws. For wider openings between four feet six inches and eighteen feet, the header consists of two studs sized either three and five-eighths inches or eight inches depending on the span, framed with top and bottom runner tracks and number eight sheet metal screws at each cripple stud. Cripple studs for spans up to eighteen feet are spaced at twelve inches on center.
