A fire and smoke damper is installed within a scheduled partition wall. The fire damper conforms to Underwriters Laboratories listing R5531 and the smoke damper to listing R10525. An angle frame is bolted to the fire damper sleeve at a maximum spacing of two feet on center, requiring a minimum of two bolts per side all around. A one-eighth inch per linear foot of duct size clearance is maintained around the assembly. Five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board is installed between the fire damper sleeve and the wall framing member all around.
