This assembly shows a fire-rated partition wall meeting the underside of a steel beam supporting a metal deck. The steel beam is protected per Underwriters Laboratories Design No. D929, while the partition wall is constructed per Underwriters Laboratories Design No. U419. Rigid mineral and fiber board, such as Driclad or equal, provides fire protection around the beam. A fire-resistive joint system is installed at the head of the partition where it meets the beam, with specific head-of-wall details referenced in the partition types schedule.
