An eight-gauge wire tie attaches to the structure above at a maximum spacing of forty-eight inches on center and ties to a one-and-one-half-inch metal carrying channel spaced at forty-eight inches on center. Metal furring channels tie to the carrying channels with double-strand eighteen-gauge wire at twenty-four inches on center and support the gypsum board ceiling. A control joint is provided per plans with a quarter-inch gap in the gypsum board finish. The ceiling perimeter receives joint tape and compound at gypsum board walls or stainless steel trim and sealant at other wall finishes.
