This assembly features a recessed light cove framed with light gauge metal studs and finished with five-eighths inch gypsum board. The vertical face of the cove is seven and one-quarter inches wide, creating a pocket for an LED light fixture as specified in the electrical drawings. The adjacent ceiling transitions to an acoustical ceiling system, with the bottom of the gypsum soffit and the bottom of the acoustical ceiling elevations determined by the reflected ceiling plan. The framing is supported by standard metal stud construction, with the gypsum board applied to both the vertical and horizontal surfaces of the cove.
