This interior architectural detail shows a cove-lit gypsum board soffit framing junction. The assembly is constructed with metal studs spaced at twenty-four inches on center maximum, matching the wall stud size and gauge per structural drawings. A two-and-one-half-inch metal stud frames the cove pocket, which maintains a one-foot clear dimension horizontally and vertically. A fluorescent light fixture is concealed within the pocket, coordinated with electrical drawings. The exterior surfaces are finished with Type X gypsum board, taped and finished smooth for a gloss paint finish.
