A six-inch exterior metal stud wall terminates below a structural beam with a deflection track holding the stud one inch clear of the structure. The assembly incorporates two inches of spray polyurethane foam insulation and a sheathing layer with taped joints for a continuous air barrier. A fluid-applied waterproof membrane protects the wall plane behind the metal closure frame and the wall-mounted mechanical grille. The stone cladding meets the assembly with a three-eighths-inch joint filled with backer rod and sealant.
