A round pipe or duct penetrates a framed partition with gypsum board facings on both sides and acoustic blanket insulation filling the cavity. A maximum one-half inch gap is maintained between the edge of the gypsum board and the penetrating pipe or duct. The penetration is sealed with acoustical joint sealant at non-rated partitions or a penetration fire-resistive joint assembly at fire-rated partitions. Partition hangers are provided on each side to support the penetration.
