This assembly consists of a cold-formed steel stud wall terminating at a composite floor deck or steel roof deck. A slotted metal deflection track, matching the gauge of the wall studs, is fastened to the deck using powder-driven fasteners for composite decks or sheet metal screws for steel roof decks. Gypsum board is attached only to the wall studs and must remain unattached to the deflection track to allow for vertical movement. A maximum two-inch gap is maintained between the top of the stud and the underside of the deck, with a one-inch clearance indicated for the track slot. No acoustical insulation is included within the partition cavity.
