A painted handrail measuring one and a half inches in diameter mounts to stair stringers or adjacent walls using painted handrail brackets spaced at a maximum of four feet on center. The gripping surface height maintains a vertical clearance of thirty-four to thirty-eight inches above the nosing of the treads and risers. Extensions at the top and bottom of the stair run provide a minimum length of two feet ten inches and a one-foot horizontal return.
