Metal stud wall framing incorporates a horizontal 600T137-68 track spanning across vertical metal studs to provide structural support for casework backing. The horizontal track is notched over the studs and fastened at each stud intersection using three number ten by three-quarter inch pan head screws or a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld at the top and bottom. The backing track must extend one stud beyond the edge of the cabinet. A continuous one-by-four spacer shim is fastened to each stud with three number ten flat head wood screws. The cabinet is secured through the wall material and backing plate using number twelve by three-inch long sheet metal screws at twelve inches on center and within two inches of the end of the cabinet, complete with a three-quarter inch diameter washer.
