A structural steel stair stringer bears onto a concrete footing reinforced with two continuous number 5 rebars. The stringer connects to the footing via a 4x4x1/4-inch angle, nine inches long, positioned inside the stringer and secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter anchor bolts in two-inch long slotted holes. A three-eighths-inch thick closure plate welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds seals the bottom of the stringer. Angle connections for the treads and risers are provided by the stair manufacturer, with tread profiles coordinated with architectural drawings.
