An expansion joint assembly bridges the structural gap between a structural steel column enclosed in spray-applied fireproofing and gypsum wallboard over 3 5/8-inch metal stud framing, and an adjacent exterior wall type. The joint is finished with scheduled expansion joint covers at the interior and exterior lines. A canopy structural assembly ties into the column grid lines above. Thermal insulation fills the framing cavities adjacent to the structural steel.
