A 16-gauge slotted top track manufactured by Metal-Lite, Inc. receives cold-formed metal studs and allows vertical structural movement. A number 6 screw is placed at the center of each slot with a stand-off washer, typical on each side of the stud. A one-half-inch minimum clearance gap is maintained above the partition. Screws to structure consist of two number 8 fasteners at 16 inches on center. Gypsum board finishes the metal stud assembly.
