A 1-1/2-inch outer diameter steel guardrail is mounted at 42 inches above the landing, supported by 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 11-gauge hollow structural section steel tube posts and guardrail members. An intermediate handrail is positioned at 36 inches, consisting of a 1-1/2-inch outer diameter steel handrail welded to a 1-1/2 by 1/4-inch bent steel bar bracket. The steel handrail is welded to the steel tube supports, and an 11-gauge steel sheet flight closure completes the junction at the stair framing.
