An aluminum storefront frame with one-inch insulated clear glazing is anchored beneath a cold-formed steel framed wall. The wall consists of six-inch metal studs spaced at sixteen inches on center with six-inch batt insulation providing R-21 thermal performance, faced with five-eighths-inch gypsum sheathing. A weather barrier and extruded polystyrene foam-plastic board wrap the exterior of the assembly. A flexible silicone flashing membrane ties the storefront head to the backup wall over an angle. A one-half-inch sealant joint with a backer rod seals the junction between the aluminum storefront frame and the exterior finish.
