This interior partition detail shows the junction where a tiled shower wall meets the ceiling in a wet area. Cold-formed metal studs support moisture and mildew-resistant sheathing, which is faced with a waterproofing membrane, a mortar bed, and tile. A six-mil vapor barrier runs behind the wall assembly and across the ceiling structure. The ceiling is finished with moisture and mildew-resistant sheathing and high-humid grade mildew-resistant paint. Polyurethane sealant and silicone sealant fill the joint at the wall-to-ceiling intersection to prevent water infiltration.
