Two duct sections meet end to end, sealed by a one-and-a-half-inch-wide by quarter-inch-thick rubber gasket compressed between them. Mating flat or angle steel flanges measuring one and a half inches wide by three-sixteenths of an inch thick are welded to the internal duct surface in accordance with mechanical specifications. Three-eighth-inch hex bolts secure the connection through washers on both sides and a three-eighth-inch nut with a nylon insert.
