An electrical penetration extends upward through a plywood or OSB deck and built-up roofing membrane, maintaining a minimum 8-inch height above the new roof. A 2-1/2 pound lead flashing sleeve is set with its base flange into roof cement over installed interply felt, using 4-pound lead if field soldering is required. The flange is stripped with two plies of fiberglass felt, with each ply set into a continuous mopping of hot asphalt, and finished with roof cement with white acrylic coating and a 3-course application or flashband. Surfaces receiving flashband must be thoroughly clean and dry, and all seams are secured to be lead soldered.
