A 2-hour rated ceiling transition connects a scheduled partition to a composite box beam. The partition framing incorporates CH studs sized as required for the span, faced with a 1-inch gypsum board shaft liner and three layers of 5/8-inch gypsum board. A J track secures the framing, and fire sealant is applied at the junction. A vapor barrier is installed as required between conditioned and non-conditioned spaces. The assembly complies with code compliance research report CCRR-0502 assembly 8.
