An aluminum window system mullion rests on shims above a pre-finished aluminum sill pan and a sloped waterproofing membrane that drains outward. A backer rod and sealant joint seals the interface between the window frame and the sill. Below, weathered Cor-Ten steel panels run vertically over rigid insulation and a drainage cavity set between vertical Z-channels. High-temperature water-resistive barrier and self-adhered flashing protect the exterior sheathing and framing. Any penetrations in the waterproofing membrane and water-resistive barrier must be fully sealed.
