A one and one-half inch outer diameter stainless steel handrail terminates at a structural steel channel supported by a three-sixteenths by two-inch steel plate. One-half-inch steel rod pickets are spaced typically along the assembly and welded to the steel plate. All interior exposed steel except the handrail is primed and painted. Welds at the handrail termination are continuously applied to the rod pickets and ground smooth.
