A steel braced frame connection with diagonal braces frames into a column through a three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate. The beam features a one-half-inch minimum bottom flange plate and a three-eighths-inch minimum top flange plate matching the bottom shape. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the gusset plate to the structural members within a special truss moment frame system. Complete joint penetration welds with backing gas and magnetic particle testing are specified at the flange connections. Additional geometry includes a one-foot four-and-one-half-inch dimension and a six-and-one-quarter-inch clearance.
