A non-rated partition head frames into a structural steel beam supporting an existing concrete-filled metal deck. A deflection track featuring two-and-a-half-inch legs is secured with number ten self-tapping sheet metal screws to each stud on both sides. A sixteen-gauge metal 'Z' partition attachment clip is spaced at a maximum of twenty-four inches on center perpendicular to the partition and secured to the steel beam using three Hilti X-U fifteen powder-driven fasteners. Spray-on fireproofing is applied at each metal 'Z' clip. Three-eighths-inch diamond mesh expanded metal lath is wrapped over the 'Z' clips and attached using wire ties or steel fasteners. Batt insulation fills the non-rated partition cavity.
