The guard post is supported by an L3x3x1/4 by 6 inch angle and secured to the web of a C-shape beam with two 1/2 inch diameter heavy hex A325 bolts. A toeboard is attached to the guard post, maintaining a one-quarter inch maximum gap above the metal grating specified per structural drawings. The bottom of the pipe guard post is left open, projecting one and one-half inches below the supporting angle.
