This seismic expansion joint detail occurs within a two-hour rated gypsum board partition assembly. Two layers of five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board are applied to each side of the partition framing, finished with "L" mouldings at the joint edges. The joint incorporates a snap-on plastic wall seal and laminated stainless steel foil backed by fire safing insulation. Sheet metal retainer clips are attached with minimum three-sixteenths by three-inch screws spaced at eighteen inches on center on each side of the clips.
