Luminous egress markings are installed on stair treads, handrails, and surrounding walls to comply with building code requirements. Stair treads feature a luminescent stripe placed a half-inch maximum from the leading edge, with a one to two-inch width. Perimeter demarcation lines run along the walls and drop down to floor-mounted positions maintaining zero to four-inch clearances from the floor surface. Handrail markings are positioned continuously along the top surface of the handrail following code sections 1024.2.3 and 1024.2.4.
