A premanufactured roof hatch sits atop a raised curb framed with three-inch minimum treated wood blocking over a painted metal deck. The curb perimeter is sealed with membrane flashing and a twenty-four gauge galvanized counterflashing with riveted and soldered corners. A six-inch by six-inch by sixteen-inch long eighteen gauge bent plate fastens the deck to the wood blocking, while continuous fire caulk runs along the perimeter underside. An aluminum ship's ladder extends down through the roof opening, paired with a safety railing and a zinc-plated chain with spring clips.
