A wide-flange W-beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a single plate shear connection. A shear tab is welded to the face of the hollow structural section column with a dimensioned vertical clearance of three-quarters of an inch to the top flange. The beam web bolts to the shear tab with a single row of structural bolts. The incoming beam size and configuration are sized per plan.
