An acoustical wall assembly terminates at a deflection track attached beneath a concrete floor slab or deck. The gypsum board extends to one-half inch below the top of the deflection track to allow for structural movement. Acoustic sealant is applied on both sides of the assembly where the wall meets the overhead structure. The gap above the partition is filled with acoustic batt insulation to maintain sound attenuation.
