Three three-quarter-inch diameter steel pipes measuring one inch long are welded to the gate and painted to match the enclosure, serving as guides for the latch mechanism. A five-eighths-inch diameter by eight-inch long steel pin latch with a four-inch long handle slides through the guide pipes and is finished with paint matching the enclosure.
