Cold-formed steel stud framing connects to a concrete filled metal deck at the head of the wall in both perpendicular and parallel orientations. The perpendicular condition utilizes a sixteen gauge slotted track with number eight screws fastened to the center of the slots and manufacturer-approved deflection pads spaced two feet on center and two inches from ends, maintaining a half-inch minimum clearance to the top of the stud. The parallel condition incorporates a two-inch wide by one-foot four-inch long sixteen gauge strap with two number eight screws per strap and stand-off washers, secured with manufacturer-approved pads on each side centered on the flute and spaced two feet on center and six inches from ends.
