A steel stair stringer connects to a finished wall surface with precast concrete treads and steel plate tread supports. Continuous backer rod and joint sealant are specified at the stringer-to-wall interface, maintaining a half-inch joint. Joint sealant is also applied at the top and bottom of the stringer. Where a ceiling occurs, the assembly incorporates five-eighths inch painted gypsum board and a half-inch aluminum reveal.
