A 7/8-inch wall angle fastens to the wall studs. A main runner sits perpendicular to the wall, with one end secured to the wall angle via a perimeter closure angle. A 12-gauge suspended acoustical ceiling attachment wire supports the main runner at a maximum distance of 8 inches from the wall. The main runner attaches to the wall angle at one end only, leaving the opposite end unattached to allow for thermal movement.
