A steel pipe per mechanical drawings is supported on an HSS 5x5 brace member. A one-quarter inch cap plate closes the end of the hollow structural section, secured with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds. A half-inch by fourteen by six inch plate connects the angled brace at a thirty degree working point. Complete joint penetration welds and five-sixteenths inch fillet welds join the structural steel elements.
