An interior gypsum board partition intersects a structural column using non-structural metal framing and acoustic blanket insulation within the stud cavity. Acoustical joint sealant is applied at the junction between the gypsum board and the column flange to maintain sound attenuation. Layers of gypsum board finish both sides of the metal stud framing up to the column interface.
