A metallic pipe or conduit passes through a one or two-hour rated gypsum board wall assembly enclosed within a steel sleeve. Tightly-packed mineral wool insulation fills the sleeve on both sides of the wall. Firestop sealant is applied on both sides of the wall, accompanied by a continuous bead of sealant around the full circumference of the steel sleeve.
